Lyme Disease

Lyme disease is caused by a bacteria called Borrelia, transmitted primarily by certain types of ticks.  Initial symptoms are often similar to a flu like illness.  More often than not, patients will experience an increasing number of symptoms along with the original symptoms.  Most standard lab tests, along with the screening test for Lyme disease are often normal.  Although there is an extremely long list of symptoms that may occur with Lyme disease, the following four are often present:

  1. Fatigue
  2. Muscle/joint/tendon pain
  3. Depression/concentration issues
  4. Sleep impairment.
